Semi-Automated Curbside Household Garbage Collection Program
All City of Roswell residents will receive a 96-gallon container for household garbage collection. Your scheduled day of garbage collection will not change.
Deliveries will begin around mid-to late November 2018. The new containers will be delivered curbside to your home. Please watch for your new container and begin using it on the next scheduled day for your household garbage collection.
If you reside in one of the four (4) Pilot Program areas, your garbage collection will remain the same and you will continue to use the cart provided to you in January 2018. If you relocate, please do not take the cart with you. The carts are assigned to individual addresses by specific serial numbers. If you are a new resident and need a cart please contact one of the phone numbers below to make a request. It may take a maximum of 48 hours to receive your cart.
If you have any questions and/or concerns regarding this new program, please contact the Solid Waste Division at 770-641-3961.
City of Roswell Curbside Household Garbage Container Program Policy
Updated February 7, 2019- The City of Roswell will provide a 96-gallon household garbage container to all residents of the City of Roswell. All household garbage must be placed into the City provided container. Household garbage will not be collected from other containers.
- Residents are responsible for contacting the Environmental/Public Works Solid Waste Division to request a container if they are a new resident or move into a home that does not have a container.
- The containers are assigned to individual residences with a serial number and shall not be removed from the premises.
- Residents are responsible for the care, proper use, safekeeping, loss and cleanliness of their containers.
- If a resident requests to exchange their provided 96-gallon container for a different size, the new (exchanged) container will be required to be in place for a minimum of one (1) year from the date of receipt.
- Existing premium service customers will receive two (2) containers. If a resident wants two (2) containers they are required to contact the City of Roswell Finance Department at 770-641-3759 to change their service from "standard" to "premium". Additional fees will apply.
- Residents can purchase an additional 45-gallon container for a one-time fee of $50. The Environmental/Public Works Department Director, Deputy Director or Solid Waste Manager will approve these requests. The 45-gallon containers are for customers with limitations who cannot accommodate the 95-gallon container. There is no change in the standard monthly service fee.
- The City reserves the right to charge residents a minimum of $25 for the cost of repair or replacement of containers if the repair or replacement is required as a result of abuse, misuse, damage, or fire.
- If a resident requests a new, clean container when relocating to a home that currently has a container, there will be a charge of $25.
- If a container is damaged by City staff it will be replaced at no cost to the resident.
- Deliveries of containers for new residents and/or replacements will occur within 48 hours of the request.
