Overdressed: The Many Layers of Women's Fashion in the 19th Century

November 10 - January 30
Considering that the Smith Plantation was a farmstead in rural North Georgia at the time, many people may be surprised at the surviving clothing samples within the Smith Family Collection and how it can highlight the changing fashion and daily women’s life during the late 19th century. Exhibit will detail the dressing process, from underwear to accessories, while exploring function, form, and presentation. Visitors will discover what it tells us about 19th century life, social expectation, women's work, and the clothing it embodies.

Exhibits are viewable with regular admission.
